Ruminating always feels like we're doing something important when in fact we're doing something harmful, says psychologist Guy Winch, and we all do it far more than we realize.


And this leads to burnout.


How many hours outside of work do you spend overthinking about your job and your workmates? Winch says many of his patients spend 10 to 20 non-work hours a week obsessing about work.


“You’re getting aggravated anew each time,” says Winch, who specializes in workplace psychology.
